FASNY Federal Credit Union created this Privacy Policy to demonstrate our firm commitment to safeguarding the privacy of our members. We are committed to protecting the safety and privacy of each member's financial records and other non-public information consistent with state and federal laws. We take prudent and reasonable measures to safeguard the accuracy and privacy of all member information used while conducting business via the Internet, ATM networks, wire services, telephone, the U.S. mail, and other means of communication. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard your nonpublic, personal information. All FASNY Federal Credit Union employees are required to maintain the confidentiality of all Credit Union and Member information. We do not collect or maintain information about our members that is not essential for prudent business purposes.

How Information is Collected

We collect information such as name, address, social security number, and assets and income directly from our members through membership applications, account and service applications, loan applications and related forms that you complete. We obtain information when verifying the information you provide on an application or other form, such as from your current or past employers or from other institutions where you conduct financial transactions, and information, such as your account balances, payment history, parties to transactions, and credit card usage, from your transactions with us. Information obtained from our members is kept secure and access to that information is limited within the Credit Union to personnel who need to know the information to provide products or services to our members and properly operate the Credit Union.

How Collected Information is Used

We may disclose information we collect from membership and loan applications and other forms to: companies that perform marketing services on our behalf; to other financial institutions with whom we have joint marketing agreements; and to other related business partners. The types of information we disclose may include, for example, your name, address and income. Member information is provided to business partners in connection with statement and mailings distribution, check printing, after-hours and automated servicing, credit card authorizations and reporting credit history information to credit reporting agencies. FASNY Federal Credit Union requires all recipients of nonpublic, personal information to adhere to our strict confidentiality and privacy policies. Federal Law protects the information FASNY Federal Credit Union provides to credit reporting agencies and its use is strictly governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. FASNY Federal Credit Union's encrypted web site has security measures in place to protect against access, misuse or alteration of your information. All sensitive transactions use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encrypted network transmissions (SSL was created for use in transmitting private information over the Internet and encrypts [converts data into secret code] information exchanged between a web browser and a web server.) All online applications within "Home Banking" are housed on a secure web page. Credit Union staff is notified via e-mail when a loan application is submitted via the web site. A staff member will then access a password-protected secure web page to process the loan application.

FASNY Federal Credit Union asks that you do not send confidential information to us via e-mail. E-mail is not necessarily secure against interception. If your communication is sensitive, or includes personal information such as member numbers, credit card numbers, personal identification numbers, social security number, or date of birth, you should contact us by phone or regular mail.

FASNY Federal Credit Union is committed to protecting the privacy of its members. Members can help by following these simple guidelines:

Protect your account numbers, card numbers, PINs (personal identification numbers) and passwords. Never keep your PIN with your debit, ATM or credit card which can provide free access to your accounts if your card is lost or stolen. Use caution when disclosing your account numbers, social security numbers, etc. to other persons. If someone calls you, explains the call is on behalf of the Credit Union and asks for your account number, you should beware. Official Credit Union staff will have access to your information and will not need to ask for it. Keep your information with us current. It is important that we have current information on how to reach you. If we detect potentially fraudulent or unauthorized activity or use of an account, we will attempt to contact you immediately.
